The new New Orleans

Photos from the French Quarter including grafitti - fooled around with some filters and had the figure from an old Poser software that won't run on Win7. The Quarter used to be reasonably safe but is now in the midst of an uptic in armed robberies and is becomming a scary place. Plus we have an "Occupy Nola" bunch running around downtown.

So sad to hear about the French Quarter, but the image is excellent. What a good idea to use the Poser figure in silhouette...poser figures tend to look so stiff, but this one works. ~Meg

It's still fun but you need to be careful and know where to go and when. This city is always in the running as number 1 murder capital of the country - lately the crime is being more directed toward tourists and the more affluent areas of the city. If it's not nailed down it's at risk!!!

Very good, Laurie. It is a pity things have changed so much -- it used to be a very fun place to visit.

to me, it shows the danger in going to unsafe places such as city side streets and well-known violent crime areas. beware where you dare to tread. excellent laurie! shu

This is really good Laurie. So much pent up anger. I guess we're all feeling it with the way the money people have knifed us in the back. At first I wasn't so sure about the green leaves as I didn't think it quite worked with the rest of the painting; but the more I thought about it, I decided it added a strange kind of contrast. It's as if the viewer of this image is of a gentle nature (the leaves seem to be non threatening) and is almost a voyeur looking past those gentle leaves to witness this gruesome action. I also really like the color on the edges. --skunk

I love the use of the graffiti--it is amazing how powerful it can be.
