It is a nice image for a seasonal greeting; I do like the mixing of methods and am trying to get there myself; it does take time and thought, and some experimentation too.

a combination of Photoshop for the composite - Painter for sketching but just basically fooling around and then got something I liked. Mostly with chalk brushes and cloning - I could not tell you which I used first or last - But then I merged the black and white sketch back with the original color image with a blending mode in Photoshop.

Makes me think of a fairy tale. The way the hands are holding the rose it's as if the rose has some magical quality to be celebrated. I like the elongated hands, they seem to hold the quality of a poet or artist. Nice one, Laurie.--skunk
