Tree of Doors

When I saw this gallery I really wanted do something, but wasn't able. I had done an image a few weeks earlier and for me it fit Paul's words "your own portal to the Universal soul." I have very strong emotional feelings around trees and did this image to represent those feelings. It is based upon Celtic myth where the oak is a most sacred tree. The English word "door" comes from the Celtic (Gaelic) word for oak; "daur." The oak was symbolic of a portal to the Otherworld, a door between the light and dark seasons of the year as well as a place of protection, strength, and endurance. A door made of oak was thought to offer protection from evil.

It is a composite of my own photos of the tree, a grassy field, hills and Almita's photo of the door. Also, added text. Mostly done in PS using different modes to layer and then painting a bit. Also ran it through Mystical Lighting to darken.

Beautiful. I want to go through that door where I know I would find you puttering around making beautiful things. I also like the words as I think they add mystery to the image.

Lovely,Meg. I love your comments on trees - We live on a street lined with those ancient live oaks they have down here - One of the reasons I wanted to buy this house -
I really like the way you have inserted the door into the tree trunk - the lighting effect works so well here also.

In spite of all your health problems, you really haven't lost your touch! This is magical, mysterious, and altogether beautiful. The peekaboo text is just wonderful, keeps me looking and guessing.
