Viva la Rasa!

A political statement in the form of a poster.

2 iterations of the hispanic male, one filtered as a drawing, one as a painting--different blendings, texture 5 and texture 7, some vignetting. slogan in Helvetica--simple poster frame.

When I look at this, it reminds me of a burlap bag full of corn or maize and the image is what's on the bag promoting the growers of this food. I don't know if they do that anymore, put I would sure love to have a bag with this image.--skunk

If the headline were not here the image would just be a portrait - so - we are all reading the headline according to our own political views - If the poster were to be displayed in , say, Nogales - perhaps a different interpretation. Political art can be fun and enlightening, the messages are not contagious to the viewer.

Almita, I like the effect of the 2 variations on one image combined. Something I'd like to try. The poster effect is very authentic in appearance. Love it! My huband & I also refer to "my people" when we feel the camaraderie in a group of other like-minded people. I think this is a great expression of political art.

Rasa is a varient of "race", in this context meaning "my people". "Long live my people!"
I lived in SoCal for many years--this was a chant or slogan for the many Hispanic people who have always lived there. Their culture is strong and they have contributed a lot to our culture (think tacos...). Many of them were there before white folks came--it is a shame they are blamed for illegals being there, simply because of their appearance.

What does "Rasa" mean? Google translater doesn't recognize it. The closest I could find would be to harvest corn???
I like the raised effect of the text and the texture. Works good as a poster.
