Mid July is a great time to visit the Isle of May. The seabirds are busy feeding their ever growing young and Puffins seem to blanket the sea at times. The Eider ducks have long since taken their ducklings away and it will not be long before the Terns have fledged (some already flying) and in a couple of weeks the cliffs will begin to quieten down as the auks and Kittiwakes leave the nest. If your interest is in the breeding birds of the island don't leave it too much later to visit.
