When going to Slovenia, I didn't really know what to expect - a poor country, a rich one - what I found was a GREEN one, which for me is the richest you'll find. The eastern edge of the Dolomites cause an impressively mountainous landscape covered with lush greenery and allow for little nooks and crannies where the Slovenians have built villages and towns. It was a breath of fresh air for me, I loved it. Make sure you bring a good road map though (CHRISTINA).
