A pleasurable trip to Norway's capital. I was able to contact and meet up with Arild and Line (see photos), friends of mine that I met on a long train ride from Paris to Torino about two months ago when they were taking a trip to Italy. They were good tour guides and by the time I left I felt as if we had become good friends. They took me to see parts of Oslo that I am sure not everyone gets to see, most of all the night life. While all my friends were complaining about the life in the center of town, I was dancing my booty off at a great club. :-)
The weather was nice and I could see that Norway has an incredible backyard - lots of green and incredible landscapes. One day I will return to take the trip to Bergen and see some of the fjords, and if I can work it even head up north to some of the smaller towns.
Ari and Line when you read this, thanks again for your hospitality. Someday you must give me a chance to repay you.
Great bilde! I was a Marine Sergeant stationed at the the AmEmb Oslo 1991-1992 and will never forget my tour there. I married a Norwegian girl from the mountain cillage of Lom but, unfortunately, it was not to be. I retired from the Marines in 2005 and am now a SWAT Commander in Tennessee and married with a beautiful daughter. Tak skal du ha for the awesome pics.

Great pictures! I was Marine sergeant stationed at the American Embassy in Oslo (1969-1970)as part of a five man detachment. I spent many a day (night) on Karl Johan's Gate and the surrounding enviorns. I certainly recognize Frogner Park with all the stone statues, the old village, viking ship museum. Seems like you about hit all the highlights. I was last there in the summer of 1983 with my family visiting a friend (former Marine sergeant from the detachment) who married a Norwegian and returned to live in Oslo. I went from the Marines to college (Penn State) and back into the Air Force via the ROTC program. Retired in 1993 as a major and am now living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Your pictures bring back a lot of memories. Sandy and Mickey (Pannier) are my first cousins; and Sandy got us all into a lot of "trouble" when we were little and living in Julian, PA. Anyway, that's the long and short of it. Got to get back to work. Mick Burlew
