Trying to take advantage of my rental car by going south in Latvia, very close to the Lithuanian border. I found lots of green, and quite frankly landscape that reminded me a lot of home (Ohio, that is). It was, and always is, nice to get behind the wheel and feel the freedom and control of the road.

We went to visit an old castle there (see photos) which was interesting. There is so much history here, but even more - the stories behind the history are so thick and emotional that you can still feel them today when you speak with the locals - who speak English well, for the most part.
