These pictures were taken as we enjoyed port call #1 of 4 with the Italian Training Ship SAN GIORGIO. I was the English teacher aboard, and aside from that a paid meddler in the affairs of the allievi (midshipmen). The photos below do not do the port justice - a couple of interesting things to note about Split is that it is dominated by Diocletian's Palace (from the Roman times), and the remains of the civil war are very apparent. Things are relatively inexpensive, and most people speak English. If you like beaches and island-hopping, go!
