I started on my drawing last night.
(Hey, it's only been a week since I announced my intention to start...)



I do know how to transfer and resize from photographs by hand and think it's a great thing to know,
but it's so time-consuming I feel I've earned the right to "cheat".

"Cheating" consists of using an Artograph (you can actually see it in the picture above), which uses mirrors and high watt lightbulbs to display an image directly onto a prepared surface. You just adjust the machine until the image is the size you want the finished picture to be, then begin tracing the outlines. It doesn't draw it for you, but it sure helps the setup stage go faster.

I purchased the Artograph machine because of this project, but it will make any other picture I draw from here on out easier.
It probably would have taken me over six or seven hours to trace the image I'm working on right now
(in addition to much wailing and gnashing of teeth);
with the Artograph it took just under an hour and a half, plus it's very accurate.
