Rumors of the Fall
Day 124

I thought that these pumpkins were supposed to be about pie pumpkin size -- you know, "cute"?
As it turns out they're pretty much the perfect size for carving, not too big and not too small. A little over a foot across, I'd say.
I suppose you can still make soup and pie out of the larger ones?
They're really ripening fast.

Wonderful lighting. The whole picture is very painterly. Reminds me of the some of the 'hyperreal' still lifes in the Prado Museum in Madrid; pomegranites and fowl on an oak table, bleeding out of the canvas at you. Love the green veins near the skin's surface too. Freaky!

Beautiful fall shot. I guess it really is fall now.

I buy the canned stuff for pies. Too much seeds and pulp in the garden ones for me. :)

Nice shot. Hmmmm can I come over for the pie.

This is a great image!

BTW The easiest way to tell is by how thick it is, Pie pumpkins are really thick and harder to carve, carving pumpkins are thin....

I would certainly make soup....lots of it out of that delicious looking pumpkin. The presentation in this is excellent Carmen.

A beautiful image of things to come. It leaves me with
mixed emotions as fall and then winter slowly creep in.
