Contemplative Bumblebee
Day 95

I've never met a more contented, contemplative bumblebee.
He sat there the whole time I was shooting, just kind of looking around and enjoying the dappled shade of his surroundings.
He's probably sitting there still.

I really can't blame him; it's a lovely August afternoon.
There was a sprinkling of rain this morning and the sun is drifting in and out of clouds. Rather a warm, dreamy quality to the air today.

No cropping or any post adjustment was necessary on this.

I also took a picture of him using the 717's 'Solarize' option. I really love this one as well: http://www.pbase.com/image/32382450
and one in 'Sepia' mode also: http://www.pbase.com/image/32382448

other sizes: small medium original auto

Nice grab. I chased a bumble bee on Saturday who wouldn't sit still for me. Wish I could have grabbed something like this.

Excellent work.

Carmen, this is so great....maybe he needs sunscreen, it looks a bit like he is sunbathing.

Awesome work, I have an online friend who lives in Va. whom owns the 717, and I have to say, that is one great camera, of course the person behind it also has lots to do with it, you did a great job capturing this, nice details and colors and DOF.

Heh, he does appear to be hanging tight. Nicely composed. Like the solarized version, also.

He was sizing you up, Carmen! ;)

Great shot!

He looks...um...scared to death. Is it possible you found the only bumblebee who is afraid of heights? He appears to be holding on for dear life :)
Really nice capture though. That flower is huge!

Your bumblebees are mighty strange looking!

Hmm, must be something in the air.
Wayne & I took a drive Saturday. We pulled into this field full of clover. It was sooo full of bumble bees. We got out & actually walked through the field, taking photo's. The bees weren't effected at all.

must be nice to just laze a bout like that on a summer afternoon . . .or maybe he's drunk! LOL!
