Day 61
Eastern Tailed-Blue (Everes comyntas)

Kept chasing this little fellow all over trying to get a good shot.

He seemed to like the clover in our yard; occasionally he would wander off to the neighbors and I would sit tight.
"Little Buddy, they use ChemLawn," I kept saying to him. "No weeds on that side, now smile for the camera."
Sure enough, he came back every time.

Unfortunately this conversation took place in the FRONT yard. I doubt that it's changed my reputation in the neighborhood any, though.
Oh, well!

Here's the other view I was considering: http://www.pbase.com/image/31030930
You can see a bit of the inside of his wings (BLUE!), and more of them here: http://www.pbase.com/image/31030792

(Hullo, Dad! Guess this isn't a moth...)

Well done. It is certainly a beautiful creature.

Well, that would be the intelligent thing to do...

I think this is a great shot. Your technique is very different from mine. I tend to just stand still and wait for the butterfly to return. The ones we get here seem to always return to the flower they were last on before getting scared away.

I am impressed by your patience! Maybe that's why I never get a butterfly shot. Nice, Carmen!

What a beautiful butterfly. I've never seen this one before. Great shot too, BTW!

Beautiful soft colors, like in a baby's room. Esp. empathsize with your concern about neighbor's thoughts :)

A beauty, Carmen. Nothing like this one in my neighborhood. No PaD for me today...ISP trouble again. This keeps me going, seeing yours.
