Let's Break Time

Tonight, we set our clocks back for the very last time.

When spring comes, we will spring forward into Daylight Savings Time once more,
and never fall back ever again.

To think I should live to see such days...

It's been talked about here but (a) it would condemn even moderately early morning workers to more than half a year of commuting to start their day in the inky blackness, and (b) some of our more... rustic... states don't want nuthin' to do with that corn-fangled city folk idea of daylight saving. The result is that in the summer about half of the east coast is an hour distant from the other half, and the gap between east and west coast is 3 hours rather than 2. That would become a permanent state if DST were to be implemented in perpetuity.
