I first realized I had a serious problem in the fall of 1992, during a trip to Colorado. I took a whole SEVEN (!) rolls of film over the course of two weeks, and thought it utterly decadent. I told no one. By 2000, I had progressed to 40+ rolls in one week when I visited England.
Ultimately, going digital in February 2004 was like pouring gasoline onto a fire, but at least it's beat the flames back a little from my wallet. I can now experiment with impunity. Impunity is fun.
These pictures from 1992 really were the important turning point for me -- "catching the bug". They were taken with a little Pentax point-and-shoot "Zoom 60-x" camera. Scanned clarity is not great, but there is still a certain squinting charm to them.
You have a wonderful eye for composition...it's a shame the scans were a little light and blurry, because there are some great shots in here! :)
40 rolls in a week...heaven! My girlfriend would kill me...luckily i went digital too...i dare her to impune me now!!! Impune away, i say...and then she gives me that look that says, 'you've been on that computer editing photos for the last 4 hours, so i'm leaving you' and i buckle and feel a distinct lack of impunity :)
