I'd heard of Garden of the Gods before, but I had no idea what it was, or even that it was in Colorado.

We visited on a day that was alternately bright sun and threatening skies. Driving toward Colorado Springs, I saw in the distance a patch of red against the hills. Everything around it was in shadow, but this area was illuminated by shafts of sunlight, as if by...well, God. :) The effect was quite dramatic and I had no idea this was actually our destination...
