Himalayas to Indochina.
The following 4 subspecies are being recognized:
Garrulax leucolophus leucolophus - Himalayas and Southeast-Tibet;
Garrulax leucolophus patkaicus - Northeast-India, West-Myanmar and West-Yunnan (Southwest-China);
Garrulax leucolophus belangeri - Central-Myanmar to Southwest-Thailand;
Garrulax leucolophus diardi - East-Myanmar and South-China to Indochina.
