Wild Boar - Sus scrofa - Wild Zwijn (Everzwijn)
Palearctic region. Introduced to the Nearctic, Neotropic, Oceania, Caribbean and Southeast-Asia.
The following 16 subspecies are being recognized:
Sus scrofa scrofa - Continental Europe to Central-Asia;
Sus scrofa majori - Central-Italy;
Sus scrofa meridionalis - Andalusia (Spain), Corsica (France) and Sardinia (Italy);
Sus scrofa algira - Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia;
Sus scrofa attila - Romania and Balkan Peninsula, Caucasus, Caspian coast to Asia Minor and North-Iran;
Sus scrofa libycus - Transcaucasica, Turkey and the Levant;
Sus scrofa davidi - Pakistan, Northwest-India to Southeast-Iran;
Sus scrofa nigripes - Kazakhstan, West-Mongolia, Afghanistan and South-Iran;
Sus scrofa cristatus - India, Nepal, Burma, West-Thailand and Sri Lanka;
Sus scrofa moupinensis - Coastal China south to Vietnam, west to Sichuan;
Sus scrofa ussuricus - East-China, Ussuri and AMur Bay;
Sus scrofa sibiricus - Lake Baikal region, Transbaikalia, North- and Northeast-Mongolia;
Sus scrofa leucomystax - Japan, except for Hokkaido and Ryukyu Islands;
Sus scrofa riukiuanus - Ryukyu Islands (Japan);
Sus scrofa taivanus - Taiwan;
Sus scrofa vittatus - Peninsula Malaysia, Indonesia east to Komodo.
