Central-Mexico to French Guiana, south to Peru, Bolivia and South-Brazil. Also Trinidad and Tobago.
The following 3 subspecies are being recognized:
Saccopteryx bilineata centralis - Central-Mexico south to Panama;
Saccopteryx bilineata bilineata - Panama to the Guianas, Peru and Southeast-Brazil;
Saccopteryx bilineata perpicillifer - Trinidad.
