China to Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar.
The following 4 subspecies are being recognized:
Tamiops swinhoei swinhoei - South-China (south of Qinling Range);
Tamiops swinhoei olivaceus - North-Vietnam and North-Laos;
Tamiops swinhoei spencei - North- and Northeast-Myanmar;
Tamiops swinhoei vestitus - China (north of Qinling Range).
