Steering stem bearing service

Find location for zerk fitting that clears all cables and wires. Loosen steering stem slightly, center punch location, drill hole, tap threads in hole, install zerk fitting, fill steering crown cavity with grease until it showes at top and bottom. I suggest a hand grease gun. Tighten steering stem to factory specs. On bikes that have a steering lock, the stem has to be removed. The hole for the lock has to be covered. The lock will no longer work. I cut a piece of alum can about 1/4" larger than hole. You can use J B weld or other similar product to hold patch in place. When patch is secure, install stem and complete the above procedure. Click on pictures for better view.Had a question about how much grease would get on fender. Check out the last 4 pictures.
