Baja Nubie Trip

This was a fun Baja ride with 6 nubies to Baja, with me as a Guide?? 2 XR650, 3 DR-Z 400, 2 XR 400. This started at the SheetIron dual sport ride at Stoney ford.
Talk got around to Baja and I opened my big mouth and spoke of some of my good times in Baja.
Bob, the rider with the DR-Z400s, with all the eqipment loaded on it, organized this ride with some input from me.
All 6 of the other riders were from No. Cal. It was planned to be a 6 day ride.
Start and end in Santo Tomas, just south of Ensenada.
We all met Saturday evening at El Palomar in Santo Tomas.
SUNDAY
Sunday morning we got the bikes unloaded and ready to ride.
Make careful note of the varied methods of carrying needed stuff.
Special note of cable on XR 400 and the very pretty red bag on the rear of the other XR400.
The red bag lasted about 10 miles into the ride before it wound up under the rear fender.
All the stuff that could be found was distributed amoung the other riders till we could get him a back pack in San Felipe.
The large cable came undone from the rear bag and had to be placed in a saddlebag.
We had a good ride on the first day from Santo Tomas to Uruapan, Tres Hermanos, El Alamo, Mex # 3 to El Jamau turn, to Goat trail, Trinidad, Hwy 3 to Mikes road. I logged 120+ miles.
MONDAY
The next days ride was from Mikes to San Felipe via San Matis arroyo and Diablo dry lake.
When we got to the north end of San Matias arroyo found it was fenced off and all gates closed. Went east on hwy about 6 miles and took a very boring graded road to the north end of Diablo dry lake.
Then on into San Felipe via "dump road". Somewhere along the way Dave had a little get off.
See helmet and hand guard picture. This day was about 85 miles.
Tuesday
Todays ride was to go from San Felipe to Gonzaga Bay via the old race course s/b to the pot holed pavement near Puertocitos. At this point I figured these guys could handle Baja with ease without a Guide. I returned to Santo Tomas via a crosscountry 150 ride. Pressing business obligations.

I have since talked to Bob and rest of the ride went very smooth. No get offs, no bike problems, and last buy very, very important "NO FLATS"

I have set the Baja riding hook in six more riders. Another Baja ride is being planned.
