The large Opuntia was transplanted from Derbyshire and had to be cut into several large sections in order to fit it in the car. The rooted stem section in this photo measures well over 6 feet in height. All the cut segments were left to dry in full sun before potting up, they took between 2 and 4 weeks before the cut sections scarred over and the earliest to start rooting and growing new pads took a couple of months. The large rooted stem was the last to grow new pads and took nearly 6 months to do so.
