Vermont summers are brief but intense. Nature is in a rush to get everything done before "locking time," as previous generations called it. Nowhere is this more evident than in the growth of vines, which can be overwhelming. The Vinezillas can't compare with the kudzu landscapes in the Deep South or Southeast Asia's strangler figs or the biomasses of the tropics, but they can be impressive in their own right.
