Deer antlers--known sometimes as "racks"--decorate some rural outbuildings, particularly when a family has a strong and successful hunting tradition. There is a system of evaluating antlers to determine the trophy rating of a buck, and hunters taking one with a large number of "points" often have their pictures appear in local newspapers. I tell people that Vermont is a state where "Bambi" is pronounced "Bam! Bye!"
