Ablaze-Fall Foliage of Forests, Groves, Stands and Trees
In Japan, viewing the fall colors, momijigari, is a centuries-old tradition. In Vermont, we're getting there.
If you want to visit during the peak of Vermont's fall foliage season, when the green color fails for lack of light and other colors that were hidden before stand revealed, book lodgings at least a year in advance. The displays can be negatively affected by cloudy weather or an early hard frost, but are always worth driving to see, and in the best years can be almost hallucinatory. I've split this collection of colorful vegetation into two galleries, one for larger and one for smaller. Many people don't realize that even in year when the trees are not at their best, there will be glorious colors for those who know where to took.
