Clouds Seen Over Vermont

Meteorologists have said that Vermont may not have the extreme weather of other parts of the country, but the remains of those weather systems interact here, often in ways that produce interesting cloud formations. Cold air masses reach down easily from Canada, while warm air trends upward along the Seaboard, and storm line after storm line moves from west to east. The results are subtle rather than monumental, but dedicated cloudspotters may find some rare and unusual atmospheric phenomena in this gallery--or at least that's my hope. Get in the habit of looking up and it may surprise you how much there is to watch..
