The small upland town of Bristol, Vermont (originally named Pocock by absentee owners) has a particularly high-spirited Independence Day celebration. Between the morning Outhouse Race (the 30th annual running is shown here), the afternoon parade, the fair in the Main Street Park, and unusually well-decorated houses on side streets, it's a wonderful example of the community life in the Green Mountain State. This selection is from more than 300 pictures I later found I'd taken.
