With layers of deposition and metamorphic pressure often resulting in zones of rock formation, it’s common to find lines of demarcation or cleavage planes. Sometimes these combine with other visual features to create somewhat patchwork assemblages, which I have grouped under the heading “mosaics,” though these are not the result of putting separate pieces together to form a whole. This gallery is companionate to the one headed “striations,” in which linear features predominate.
