What kind of flaming liberals must Vermonters be to elect Bernard Sanders, early in his career an avowed democratic socialist, as the mayor of its largest city, then the state's Representative in Congress, then one of its two Senators? One answer would be "people who have been paying attention." Vermont is a small state whose citizens vote for the person rather than the party (significantly, anyone voting can take a ballot for any party during a primary election), and they have come to realize that Bernie, as most know him, is a tireless fighter for people whose rights have been ignored and whose needs have gone unmet. If supporting veterans is socialistic, so be it, they say. Or proposing to cap credit card interest at 15 percent. And so on.
What kind of people? All kinds. This gallery is meant to illustrate the great diversity of those who call out, "Give 'em hell, Bernie!"
