The first evening storms moved off-shore and contained an amazing light show. The week before, four vacationers were struck by lighting not too far from my location. Needless to say, I made sure the storms continued to head away from the shore.

No tripod used but I did use a boardwalk banister to support and steady the camera. The instance I saw the flash, I hit the shutter button. Most of these captures were luck, but I'd like to say a little skill was present.
