This was my first year to explore the Refuge. I was familiar with the area but didn't realize the volume of species that called Bon Secour home. The Refuge's population was slowly rebuilding after the past two hurricane seasons. Great Blue Herons were abundant as were shore clinging birds such as sandpipers, dowitchers, terns and sandcrabs.
