Here is an awesome car for sale. This BMW is a real gem, and one of my favorite cars ever. It drives and handles amazing, and shifts like a dream. I'm sorry to see it go, but I don't need two, and I recently bought an 04 330i ZHP.
This car was ordered specifically by the dealer in 1998 to be the showroom car for the new E46 body style. Therefore, he ordered it with 100% options, fully loaded to the max, and took great care of it. In fact, the dealer made it his own personal car after it had been in the showroom a while. It's hard to find an E46 (1999-2005 BMW) in Alpine White. White has become more common these days as a BMW color, so these are in demand. This car has all the optional goodies, including safety features like anti-lock brakes, side air bags, and stability/traction control.
The car has 87,000 miles and is going strong. I have recent paperwork (in the last month) from BMW specialists Terry Sayther Automotive showing the car is in top mechanical condition. The car has had three owners: the dealership owner, an Air Force pilot's instructor who owned several BMWs and was meticulous (waxed it every 6 months), and me. I have all the maintenance records from the previous owner and myself. The dealership owner who owned it first did not keep paper records, but all BMW dealership maintenance performed under warranty (as this one was) goes into the computer, is recorded, and can be pulled up by any BMW dealership. The car has been kept in fantastic condition, washed and waxed every 6 months over most of its life. I have had it for a year and a half, kept it garaged, and babied it. I have performed lots of great pro-active maintenance on it, which means it's ready to go 10,000 miles without even an oil change.
There is lots more info on the car in the other sections of this webpage, this is only the introduction. All the pictures you see in any of the galleries were taken this month. The car is recently detailed inside and out, and ready for it's next happy owner. After ten years, this car still looks great, runs great, and turns heads. You won't find a nicer BMW for the money!
Keep in mind, despite my claims of mechanical soundness and great car, blah, blah, blah, you, the buyer, are solely responsible for making sure it's the car you want, and doing any inspections you need to do to make a wise decision. Like any 10 year old car, it will need to be maintained proactively as parts age, and has its flaws and quirks which are described in this site. The car will be sold as is, with no implicit warranty or guarantees, and whatever happens to it once it leaves my garage is your responsibility. As with all cars with this age and mileage, major and minor components can fail, causing costly repairs. This is always the risk of buying a used car with this many miles, and BMWs are not the cheapest cars to work on.
All I can say, is if I were in the market for an affordable BMW 3-series, I would buy this car. I think it will run a long time (these engines can go like 200,000 miles!), it's currently in great shape, and it has been taken care of over its life. The car is really fun to drive, and gets 24.5 miles to the gallon IN THE CITY!! A real fuel saver, a kick-in-the-pants to drive, and it looks great! What more could you want? For worry-free maintenance in you are in Austin, I would let Ralph at Terry Sayther Automotive take care of it. Much cheaper than the dealership, they are Master BMW techs and they'll shoot you straight.
