During winter and early spring Coyotes spend their time hunting and basking in the sun out on the lake ice. Secretive during summer, an occasional glipmse down a leafy trail is usually all that can be seen, except for an inquisitive young one that thought it would be fun to creep up and nip some feathering off the great one (see "Leonberger Quintus" gallery), and then pose for photographs. All the winter images are highly cropped.
