Newfoundland has to offer some of the most diverse dive opportunities with marine life and shipwrecks. Combine this with spectacular coastal scenery, fun adventures and friendly people.. it's a neat destination for scuba divers!

The key diving attraction is the Bell Island shipwrecks which are located in Conception Bay. These are WWII iron ore ships that were sunk by German U-Boat torpedoes. The ships stayed upright as they went down, presenting a nice wreck profile for diving as recreational or technical dives. They are covered with anemones and other marine life, and in certain times of the year the visibility extends around 100ft or so. I think they are absolutely the best wreck dives in Canada with their beauty, the history, and often divable conditions.

Newfoundland has much more diving to offer with it's craggy shoreline, harbours and coves that contain numerous other shipwrecks.. and always wonderfully varied marine life. If a trip is timed right, there are lots of opportunity to see icebergs and whales! The West coast of the island has Gros Morne park, which occasionally has the opportunity for diving on it's endless walls.

This trip we had a few days chartering with Ocean Quest ( http://www.oceanquestadventures.com/ to dive the Bell Island shipwrecks, and shore diving at interesting spots like Dildo Harbour (whale bones), Harbour Main, and the Whaling Wrecks that sunk on their moorings. We tacked on a day to check out scuba diving at Gros Morne park, but we didn't have access to a boat so limited to shore dives. I'm sure we have not seen the best marine life the park has to offer!
