Keystorm

The steel canaller (250' x 42.5' x 17.5') built in England in 1910, sank on a foggy night 2 years later on Oct 26, 1912 when she ran aground at Scow Island Shoal. Her crew escaped adn after 5 hours aground, the ship slid off into deep water. Her coal cargo was salvaged in 1919. Lying on her starboard side, the bow reaches within 25' and her prop rests in 115'. In between are intact forward superstructure, a [air of freight masts and a booms, and huge cargo holds. Four-inch cable double wrapped at 20' intervals are remnants of a failed salvage effort. The gash in the ship's port bow area is quite evident.
