Wreck Diving May 27, 2007 - Deliverance & Salerno

I joined a charter with Skipper Dave & Torpedo Rays out to the Deliverance & Salerno. Water temp was 41F at depth on the Deliverance, max depth 108ft. Water temp was 39F at depth on the Salerno, max depth 80ft.

Deliverance (120')
Sunk on June 15, 1917 at the entrance to Herring Cove - Halifax Harbour. The Deliverance was a 110' diving tender (schooner rigged steamer) constructed of wood, with a twin engine & twin screw. She was rammed by the Norwegian steamer Regin and sank with no loss of life. The wreck is upright with the hull mostly buried in sand, and the superstructure is mostly gone.

Salerno (85')
Sunk on June 5, 1905 on Litchfield Shoal near Herring Cove - Halifax Harbour. The Salerno was a 275' passenger steamer that was later converted to a cargo ship. Constructed of iron, she had a steam engine & screw. She ran on rocks in heavy fog at Litchfield Shoal and sank with no loss of life.
