Shots taken on Tuesday, the first practice day at the Ryder Cup. It's difficult seeing the action when there's only 24 players on the course. The crowd was huge! We were able to get grandstand seats behind the par 3 17th and par 5 12th greens. Not sure if I can convey to you the magnitude of this tournament. The size of the Ryder Cup store alone has a capacity of 2,200 patrons and it was packed to the point you could hardly move. There are close to 100 shuttle (full size) buses to get you to and from the course and the Silverdome. The organization is tremendous and everything moves smoothly.
I was surprized at the golfer and fan reaction. It was almost non-existant! Chris Riley was definitely excited to be there as you will see by his smile. Thomas Levet was the only other golfer that I saw any interaction with the crowd. He left a putt short and turned to the gallery and motioned for us to help him blow the ball in the hole.
It was interesting to see ALL the cameras around. I didn't get the best vantage points for taking shots due to being roped off. I had way too many golfers teeing off with their back to me.
All in all it was a good day, but certainly wished I would've gotten my first choice of tickets to see the actual event.
It is my desire to see the fans behave themselves this year! I gotta tell you, I was more excited to see the European team as I have seen many of the Americans before.
I hope it's a great match and the fan sportsmanship is top notch. Good luck to all the players. GO USA!
