Nora, Sardinia

This coastal sunrise is from the town of Nora on the island of Sardinia.
An ancient Phoenician city lies beneath much of this water—dating back as far as the ninth century BC, and once the provincial Roman capital for the entire island.
The silhouette on the upper-right is from a defensive tower built later on by the Spanish in the sixteenth century.

very evocative and great framing.

Sean -- this is an expressive sunset photograph because it shows us more than a setting sun. The contrast between the orderly and predictable descent of the sun in the background and the churning surf in the foreground, along with what appears to be the silhouette of a shipwreck at the upper right, makes a strong statement about the dangers that lurk within a scene of great beauty.

I like this image a lot, Sean. The capture of the foaming waves led me right on into the rest of the photo.
Well done!
