Flying Blue Heron on Buffalo National River

Buffalo National River, Arkansas

#45689 Photographers interested in shooting wildlife in the Buffalo National River have the opportunity to focus on different species according to the day. Some days the elk are not to be found, so I fall back to other wildlife and landscapes. This heron is one such fall back, and it provided me with an image in flight of this timid bird. For some reason the blue herons feeding in the Buffalo National River are less timid than in ponds. I suspect it has to do with the river noise, but that is just speculation. Another August fall back opportunity are butterflies at midday. They seem to be at about peak now.
