Messier 101, The Pinwheel Galaxy.
Images taken on my 123mm APO telescope in the New Forest. The telescope has a Focal Length of 740mm. 252 images, each of 120 secs = total integration time of 8h 24min on 17th, 18th & 21st of Mar 2026.
Per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinwheel_Galaxy. The Pinwheel Galaxy is a face-on, counterclockwise intermediate spiral galaxy located 21 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781. M101 is a large galaxy, with a diameter of 252,000 light-years.
M101 is asymmetrical due to the tidal forces from interactions with its companion galaxies. These gravitational interactions compress interstellar hydrogen gas, which then triggers strong star formation activity in M101's spiral arms that can be detected in ultraviolet images.
