Images taken on my Vaonis Vespera II portable telescope on the Hotel Balcony, in Funchal, Madeira and in the New Forest. 1,681 images, each of 10 secs = total integration time of 4h 20min on 15, 18, 22 February, 14 & 17 March 2026. I used the Vaonis Dual Band filter on Astro 131 only, 34 images .
Per Wikipedia: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion_nebula
The Orion Nebula, or Messier 42, is a diffuse nebula. It is visible to the naked eye in the night sky. It is exceptionally bright because it has O-type stars at its core. They are the hottest and brightest stars. The nebula is south of Orion's Belt in the constellation of Orion.
M42 is 1,344 light years away from Earth. It is the closest region of massive star formation. Big as it is, the Orion Nebula is just part of an even larger star-forming area known as the Orion complex.
The nebula is a huge stellar nursery. 700 stars are in the process of forming there. At its heart is a very young open cluster, known as the Trapezium because of the pattern formed by its main stars.
