Morrs Palmer led the walk in this favorite park. Found were all sorts of Russulas and members of the Bolete family, as well as a rather impressive Meripilus giganteus. See the terrific photo of this polypore taken be new member Alex (who was accompanied by his wife Svetlana). Alex also photographed the red-pored Boletus subvelutipes.
hi dianna, i just found this speciman also. I dont recall ever talking about it with COMA before, but i cooked it up, just the tender leaf ends as it was an older speciman , and it was excellent. Sour, yet more 'earthy' than either hens or chickens. HOWEVER, even though i only ate a VERY small amount as a test run, i had an adverse reaction, and ended up with stomach illness about 3 hours later.
