This was my first NAMA (North American Mycological Association)foray, and the first introduction to mushrooms for my sister, Anne Marie, who accompanied me. Amateurs and professionals from throughout the United States,Canada and the world converged on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Ashville to enjoy each others company, to participate in workshops and lectures, and to collect and identify a great variety of fungi from the mushroom-rich mountainous mixed forests of Pisgah National Forest.
