Hypomyces lactifluorum 071.jpg

This mushroom is likely Russula brevipes, a mushroom that looks a lot like the white Lactarius deceptivus. However, it has been attacked by another fungus which has effectively rendered the gills useless. Hypomyces lactifluorum is said to taste like lobster and is prized by many wild-food enthusiasts. I have been told that it is great with scrambled eggs and turns many colors in the pan.
