Another gorgeous day in a series of sunny, dry days marked the weather for our annual walk and picnic with members of the New York Mycological Society (NYMS). We resolved to collect polypores, thinking there would be little else to discuss at the demonstration tables following our perfect picnic gathering. As it turned out, we were surprised once again by the fecundity of nature even when it hasn't rained for weeks on end in our area. Of course, it helped that some of us, led by Denis Aita, scoured a normally boggy area looking for fungal treasures! In addition to our finds, we had a most delightful picnic. Everyone brought wonderful offerings to share with each other and no one left hungry!
