This has to be the largest gathering of COMA members and friends ever! Our walk leader for this annual foray in Tallman Park was George Johanson. George introduced new folks to munching on wisteria flowers, young cat briar leaves and stems, ramps, garlic mustard and morels. Speaking of those delightful fungi, we were once again treated to a plentiful fruiting - enough for everyone to bring home to cook at least one tasty dish!
Other fungi found included: Aleuria aurantia; lots of Peziza badio-confusa; Nectria cinnabarina; Gyromitra sp.; Morchella esculenta and Morchella elata; Tremella mesenterica; Exidia recisa; Exidia glandulosa; Mycena galericulata; Mycena sp.; Tubaria furfuracea; Agrocybe dura; Nolanea verna; Psathyrella hydrophila; Psathyrella velutina; Coprinus micaceus; Trametes versicolor; Irpex lactea; Trichaptum biformis; two different varieties of Pleurotus ostreatus
