We had high hopes for finding morels, but weren't expecting much given the paucity of morels found over the past couple of weeks. So we were surprised to find quite a number of them on our way into the park, a place where we have rarely found more than a couple. Then we moved on to the path that leads to the Tulip Poplars. Everyone was so absorbed in searching for and collecting morels, that they left the woods much later than usual for us. In addition to morels, we found the following fungi: Polyporus squamosus, the 'Dryad Saddle,' Pluteus cervinus, the "Fawn Mushroom,' Mycena leiana, Peziza badioconfusa and Agrocybe acericola. I was surprised not to see the "False Morel,' or Psathyrella rugocephela, because I have found these in previous years at this location.
