Well, summer is winding down in some ways. In others, it's a busy as ever! Come with us again to a month of summer in Maine!

 August 2: A lovely day to.... |
 ...go for a walk, but get your bug spray first...eyes closed, breath held! |
 Then later, it's time to... |
 ...fingerpaint with chocolate pudding...nose paint? |
 August 3: Lorelei's first .... |
 Miniature golf game. |
 Some cheating is in order when you can't.... |
 hit.... |
 ...the ball easily. |
 Hold on! Mom will show you how to hold the club. |
 And pappa will show you how to hit the ball. |
 "There's the cup. Aim for it!" |
 Oh! What frustration!! Damn!!! |
 August 4: Prudy, Paul and Nick come all the way from Oregon... |
 ....to dip their toes into the Damariscotta River where... |
 ....ocean water mixes to make for... |
 ...a chilly experience! |
 Looks painful! |
 And he doesn't stay in for long! |
 August 5: We meet Marta in Portland where.... |
 'The Paper Bag Princess' is a big hit! |
 Everyone gets into the act making... |
 a paper bag fit for a princess! |
 What a nice cousin to be so helpful! |
 August 6: We meet everyone in Brunswick at the SeaDog for lunch... |
 ...nice to have everyone in one place! |
 Something is funny! |
 August 12: Rich and Frances arrive. |
 Aug. 13: We go into town and have lunch at .... |
 ....the Tugboat. Thank you, Frances and Rich! |
 It was tasty! |
 Then we drive out to Ocean Point where the ocean... |
 ...smelled salty and the view was gorgeous! |

 Kids were out riding and Moms walking. |
 And the wildflowers were in full bloom. |
 Aug. 14: We stop at Halycon Yarn on the way south where.... |
 ....felting and a machine designed for felting is on display. |
 Back at the Marine Museum... |
 ....we get to browse just a bit before.... |
 .....lunch at Mae's! Good-bye, Rich & Frances! |
 August 15; We go to Stockton Springs to... |
 ...pick up our winter supply of blueberries. |
 One flat is poured into... |
 ...a dozen containers and we'll freeze them when we get home. |
 These trays are used by people who harvest their own. |
 It's a lovely farm with touches... |
 ....of the coast. |
 An old workhorse sits in the field. |
 August 16; Mary and Marty come and Lorelei is VERY entertained! |
 August 17: We end up at Ocean Point again on a beautiful day! |
 Grimes Cove is busy with people enjoying the ocean! |
 Then it's time to take a walk. |
 Where are you going, Mary? |
 Even the old folks get out on this fresh morning! |
 And the young folks too. |
 Time to head to the.... |
 ...Lobster Wharf for ..... |
 .....lunch. |
 August 19: We go into Portland with.... |
 ....Edward, Lynne and Butch. |
 On the waterfront we find the Amistad and |
 we walk the piers. |
 The Friendship out of Salem is an old Square Rigger replica of a... |
 1797 Frigate (Captain's quarters). |
 The ropes are interesting and there are many of them! |
 We all get into the act of photographing her. |
 The helm. |
 ....and a launch hangs from the stern. |
 Good-bye waterfront and blast from the past! |
 Time to leave, then... |
 ....we take a rest while Edward and Lynne shop. |
 August 21: Marta and Lorelei are back with Marta working... |
 ...the rest of the week at the Tugboat, so we're.... |
 ...babysitting. |

 Day Two: Aug. 21, She looks tired... |
 ....as she applies make-up. |
 Getting ready to head out for... |
 ...the playground after... |
 ...having fun with bubble wrap...pop, pop, pop!! |

 ...Sliding... |
 ....away! |
 And just hanging around! |
 Weee!!!! |
 She flies away!!! |
 August 22: Finds us at the playground again... |
 ...where Lorelei is joshing Popa. |
 Aug. 23: Lorelei gets her first treat at a soda fountain....it's.... |
 ....orange soda for $.10 a glass! Can you believe it? |
 Then it's off to the bookstore where she finds a Raggedy Ann to dance with... |
 ...and a finger puppet bat to play with. |
 The Big Bad Wolf has Big Bad teeth! Or does he? |
 And a dino makes a nice plaything too. |
 Then it's time for lunch at the Mediterranean Kitchen. |
 Fake flowers surely are interesting and .... |
 ....what kid can resist playing with the straw after.... |
 ...finishing the drink? |
