Rich asked me to share "Mt. Ronald"....Ron's 'collection' in the garage. He's a pack RAT! Rat's A_ _ as Lynne would say! |
 Another view... |
This from the Lobsterman's Coop...Yummmmm...they can cross my path any time they want! |
We go to Wiscasset for Ron's writing class and I get out... |
...and around town to capture some of the architecture that lets this town claim to be the |
"Prettiest Town in Maine" ....not sure about that one...pretty yes! Prettiest?????? |
March 2: We're ready for some spring flowers, so we go to the store and BUY some! |
But there is still snow around and even the lobstermen must shovel! |
Boothbay Harbor is gray, but the reflections and boats... |
 ....are lovely! |
In the off season, everything rolls up! |
Except the wildlife...this poor gull has a broken leg. Winter is tough all around! |
March 6: With sub-zero temps, there is sea smoke on the harbor and.... |
 ....flying down Thompson's Gut!! |
March 7; It's below zero all day, but .... |
... you can't keep teenagers down even when it's cold and .... |
....this IS hockey weather, after all! |
March 8: Sometimes store bought.... |
....tulips give lots of mileage! |
Plop them into a pool of sunshine... |
 ...and explore the possibilities! |
Even the pets get curious about what you're up to! |
Hate to end on a cold note, but these strange icicles were hanging from a dock yesterday on one of the coldest days of the year! |
March 9: We go to Brunswick and kill time over coffee and tea... |
....and oatmeal cookie while waiting for a ... |
...Rachmaninoff concert at Bowdoin Chapel... |
....where the seats are VERY uncomfortable, but the music is heavenly! |
 Oh, but those tulips!! |
Can't leave them alone. Thought they'd be 'done' by today, but... |
March 10: We go back to Brunswick, but this time Ron goes to the concert and I go w/ Edward to try to.... |
 Filtered (find edges) version |
....capture it at night....good practice! |
It's hard to do justice to these old houses and the mills.... |
....are just gorgeous in color and.... |
 ....in black and white. |
Same wall from another angle! |
March 11; Patriotism in Lewiston, Maine. |
March 12; Tail Light ...VW does some things right! |
Stock shot to illustrate 'overweight.' |
March 13: It's tulips again and they are.... |
 ...on their way out. |
Boothbay Harbor in the fog and.... |
....cold on a March day! |
March 17,18 & 19: We have a storm and this is the |
 ...aftermath....eroded driveway and ice! |
 Looking UP the driveway...it's a canyon! |
And we have ice here every time it thaws and refreezes! This is where Ron broke his shoulder! |
The new garage is leaking....as the snow melts it comes in |
between wall and cement floor! |
But all is NOT gloom & doom: Jeanne bought us a cineraria plant.... |
...for our anniversary and it tells us that SPRING IS coming! |
March 14: We go to LL's to check out the tents. |
March 21: With Spring here, a warm fire is still needed. |
And those GD house flowers are all we see of color! |
 And lovely it is! |
But a warm, cozy cat is... |
 ....almost as nice, whether.... |
 ...she smiles....or not. |
But if she doesn't make you feel cozy; maybe THIS will??!! |
And from inside, I see movement outside! |
Oh my! A fox! Wow! Look at this muted color. |
It must be the thick winter coat!! Wow!!! |
 March 24: Edward and I... |
....get out for a trip to the ..... |
 ....Bristol Peninsula and.... |
....Pemaquid. Lovely no matter how many times you've been there!! |
The cove facing the light with rocks thrown around by the surf. |
I'm always looking for a different perspective and this time... |
 ....I think I found one. |
I like this one almost as much! |
And with the blue skies and scattered clouds, |
it's a special day to photograph this... |
 lighthouse from many angles. |
 |
A wide angle lens really lets you 'get it all!' |
 Swing bridge at Bristol |
 Juvenile Loon... |
 ...washing food...crab, I think. |
March 27: Bufflehead Duck in landing mode. |
March 30: We head out to Marshall Point with Butch... |
....where the rocks around the base of the light are fascinating! |
Looking from here the rocks look wonderfully! |
And in nearby Port Clyde.... |
...fishermen are busy getting their buoys, ropes and traps... |
....ready for another busy fishing season. |
These Salty Dogs guard the wharf from the likes of us! |
Port Clyde General Store's heat source. |
Buoys are painted bright colors so that they can be identified and seen. |
